4. Host Someone For A Holiday Dinner

Ashley and Neal saw a heartfelt plea from a homeless man for a family to spend Thanksgiving with, and they were moved to take him in for the day. The couple had this homeless man over for lunch, and a big Thanksgiving dinner later in the evening. They even gifted him with some money, and hugs to go around. Watch their touching story here. While I usually wouldn’t advocate inviting strangers into your home (especially if you have kids), it might be a worth going to your local homeless shelter or soup kitchen to find out who maybe is just down on their luck, or faraway from family, and would appreciate not only a hot meal, but a warm, inviting home as well.

Here is a practical way to turn your faith into action! Right now we are raising funds to donate sleeping bags to the homeless.

Just $25 covers the price of a sleeping bag and a care package. Donations are 100% deductible, and 100% of everything donated goes directly to those in need. Click here to donate!

… Because, why not? Take a page from young Ewan’s book. He was moved by the plight of the homeless people he saw in Detroit, and asked his mom and dad if he could dress up like super man and feed them. Now, twice a month, Ewan, along with his mom, dad, and two younger siblings, go to different parks around Detroit and put together a little assembly line of sack lunches, including pb&j sandwiches, carrot sticks, fruit snacks, an apple, cookies, and water. They accept donations for clothing, blankets, and non-perishable food items. Get their full story here. The thing is, most people do really want to help, but it takes time to organize, and courage to go out there and get it done. If you have the time, this could be your next family outing, super man costume optional.
