High School Gospel Choir’s Moving Song Reminds Us That Diversity Is A Beautiful Thing.

When we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we often look to see how much of his dream has come true. Is his message of love and acceptance, regardless of race or ethnicity, is being acted upon today? In many ways, it is.
American children and teens growing up today can’t imagine going through life segregated by law from others simply because of their racial identities. Instead, they’re often communicating together through apps, sharing viral videos, or participating in meaningful school activities.

Student Jada Thomas shared a video of her school choir singing “Jesus Will” under the direction of Nathan DeShon Myers.
“When you have Gospel Choir during school…lol COME ON JESUS!”
The freedom of students to sing together, worship together, and interact so casually would no doubt seem miraculous if viewed through the lens of an American from 50 or 60 years ago.
This choir and its diversity and fellowship is a testament to how far we’ve come as a nation.
America is getting closer, day by day to fulfilling Dr. King’s dream. With all the negativity in the news, it may sometimes feel we’re moving farther away. When you feel that way, it’s always good to see videos like this. These videos remind us that dreams of a united country full of love and understanding are possible.
