Faith, Family, Food: Thanksgiving With FaithHub

As we head into this holiday, turkeys are brined, baked, fried. However you prepare the feast, we know there are family traditions and favorites that only you know. We asked around the office here at Jesus Loves You, and here are some foods we all love.

SWEET POTATOES: THE SECRET INGREDIENT IS ACTUALLY A LITTLE SMOKEY

These aren’t my exact sweet potatoes (I actually don’t mash – I slice and bake in syrupy sauce that is drizzled), it gets the point across. With all the savory foods on the table – the turkey, the stuffing, the mashed potatoes, the green bean casserole (but more on that in a second) – you really need something sweet. And no, bog fruit cranberries don’t cut it for me. I originally adapted this from my mom’s recipe because I wanted a little extra kick without a lot of extra work.

12 Tomatoes once again has the full recipe, though I reocmmend no mashing!

THE BEST STUFFING ISN’T STUFFED ANYWHERE

Stuffing a turkey allows all the flavor from the stuffing to make it into the bird, but what if you wanted all the flavor from the bird baked into the stuffing? Solution: this recipe calls for baking the stuffing in a casserole dish, and resting turkey legs over top. The juices and the flavor drips down into the stuffing, keeping it moist and delicious, and you also end up with some extra turkey meat you can save and use the next day for a pot pie.

If you need a great stuffing recipe, look no further!
