At the Shamwari Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in South Africa, the exotic is daily mixed with the mundane, from some of the most majestic animals in the world (lions, elephants, and rhinoceros oh my!) to somewhat more common fare such as Albert the sheep. When Themba the elephant calf fell from a cliff, he was brought to Shamwari to get better. But separated from his mother and herd, the highly emotional animal was morose and unwilling to feed. Enter Albert. By placing the sheep in Themba’s pen, rescuers hoped to spur the elephant, but they didn’t count on the friendship that developed so quickly. See a brave sheep and a curious elephant become great pals in the clip below!
