Janea Aguilera was like any teenage girl and dreamed of going to her senior prom with a boy and a beautiful dress. The only difference is that Janea was thirteen, battling cancer, and likely never to make it to her senior year. Her hometown of Lamar fell in love with Janea, and her brother fulfilled her wish by taking her as a date to his own prom – where she was crowned as the prom princess at fourteen. She passed away less than 48 hours later, but even in death, she brought people together: nearly one-third of the town showed up for her funeral.
