Christian Video Game Raises A Whopping $271,000 of Funding

A 20-minute demo of Gate Zero is currently available with plans to launch the full version in 2024.

An innovative new biblical video game titled Gate Zero has raised $271,000 on Kickstarter in less than four days.

Gate Zero allows players to travel back in time to explore ancient Israel, interact with major storylines from the gospel, and explore Christ’s Words in a different setting to what everyone is used to.

The huge plunge on funding for Gate Zero demonstrates the intense interest there is for a Christian video game based on biblical teachings and the word of Jesus Christ.

Crowdfunding is where creators raise money for a project from a large number of people who each contribute a relatively small amount. The huge amount raised in such a short time has blown the Bible X Games’ initial goal out of the water.

“We really want to dive into creating a game for the younger generation to be able to experience Jesus and to be able to get familiar with the stories and the events from the Bible,” Gate Zero producer Arve Solli told Faith Wire.

“We believe that the younger generation [needs to get] familiar with the Bible,” Solli said. “They need to be able to understand on what ground they are taking the decisions, so we see the gaming medium as a really effective way of giving them context, telling the stories and also interacting with the stories and events, so … they are able to understand the significance of the message that Jesus came with.”

According to the official synopsis, Gate Zero “starts out in the year 2072 in the dystopian world of Terrapolis. You and your cousin Hector receive a cryptic mission from your eccentric late grandmother.

She offers the chance to win her whole inheritance if you unlock the secrets of her mysterious ‘pearl.’ You and Hector decide to solve this mystery by going back to the source in his time machine, Gate Zero.”

A 20-minute demo is currently available with plans to launch the full version of the game in 2024. The initial release will include approximately 30 stories from the Gospels, with plans for expansion if the original Gate Zero is successful.
