It’s hard to surprise us these days, but a group of high school students managed to do just that with a viral video that has gone down in web history because of its unexpected twist!
In 2008, 14 students at South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington, took the stage dressed in monk robes. They were set to perform the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s “Messiah.” The song is notoriously difficult to sing for and choir, so the audience must have been wondering what was going to come next…
Still, they never could have dreamed that within seconds, they’d be rolling with laughter!
Rather than belting out the song, these “monks” adhered to a strict rule of monastic silence. Instead, they held up signs with the song lyrics on them and synchronized their movements perfectly.
These kids clearly put a lot of work into getting their act just right! They all manage to get the correct words up at the right times, and they even put a little dance wiggle into certain parts of the song, to coordinate with the music.
So clever and funny! Watch the full video below, and don’t forget to share it to make someone smile today!
