Man Disregards Mom His Whole Life Until She Unexpectedly Dies

We should always appreciate the people who are closest while we still have the chance to. Once they are gone from our lives, they are gone forever, and forever is a very long time.

We can make excuses and argue with reality but this will never change. It is also easy to assume that everyone else has it better than we do. The grass always seems much greener on the other side, doesn’t it?

These are lessons that this man probably wishes that he had heeded long before now. For many, we have to lose the things that are most meaningful to us before we are able to realize how good we had it. When Marc had the chance to speak to a school full of students, these are the lessons that he wanted to get across.

He’s had his issues with drugs and alcohol. He was sure to speak about how these substances did not provide him with the life that he wanted but he also spoke about something far more important: his mother.

Like many people, Marc did not always appreciate his mother enough. She loved him and wanted the best for him but he did not realize it.

When we are young, we fall into the trap of believing that we are always going to have access to our parents. We take their love for granted and we forget that they are not going to be here forever. Marc would be rude to his mother and ignore her, something that he deeply regrets now. While he was overseas, he got the worst call a person can get.

His mother had passed away and it took this tragic event to put everything into perspective for him. He finally knew how much his mother loved and cared for him but it was too late now. Marc had to put the pieces of his life back together. He attended her funeral and it took all of the courage that he could muster to walk up to her casket.

One look inside was all it took for Marc to realize that things were never going to be the same again. He had never seen his mother like this before.
