Has Pride Invaded Your Heart? Here’s What To Look Out For

Because of it’s very nature, pride can be difficult to identify in our own hearts. So how can we be sure that we haven’t let the cancer of pride invade our lives? Here are a few key symptoms to be on the look out for…

4. Defensiveness

If you are standing on Christ’s righteousness alone, you will have a quiet confidence about you; a security in knowing that He is your hiding place. If, however, you have fallen under the sickness of pride, and you feel that you are standing on your own righteousness, you will feel the need to defend it with all of your strength. You will become defensive and argumentative, and you will not take gentle reproof at all.

5. Neglecting Others

Pride honors those who the world deems worthy, giving them more space in our lives and in our hearts than those who seem unimportant or inconvenient. We are all guilty of this on one level or another. The good news is, all we have to do is confess our sinful habits and attitudes, thus signaling the war has been waged against our old self. We can once again turn to the Gospel making much of God.
