Pride. It is one of the most destructive attitudes to have, and from it, stems a multitude of deadly habits. From judging others, to being unwilling to forgive, and impairing you from crying out to your Savior, pride most certainly comes before destruction. Because of it’s very nature, pride can be difficult to identify in our own hearts. So how can we be sure that we haven’t let the cancer of pride invade our lives? Pride tends to draw out all the goodness we see in ourselves, and puts it on display for all to see. It also draws out all the flaws in everyone else, and makes it easier for us to judge them based solely on their faults, not on God’s grace. It is this kind of pride in our hearts when we hear a sermon, and instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to convict us, we are busy thinking of all the other people we know that “really need to hear this.” The humble Christian sees all the work they still have to do in their own lives, that they rarely have time to pass judgement on other Christians.
