For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? – Luke 14:28

In this challenge to the people yearning to learn and follow him, Jesus invites us to consider just what it means to truly be a disciple. Centuries later, Dietrich Bonhoeffer would enumerate the struggle of suffering, society and resistance in light of Christ with The Cost of Discipleship. So…have you counted the cost? How do you make your suffering meaningful, how do you be a disciple? Consider the suffering of Christ. Fr. Dusty Burns, aka the spoken word poet Pontifex, has just such an idea. And it’s one worth remembering.
