She Stole from a Grocery Store, But This Police Man Didn’t Arrest Her. Why Not?

…the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your towns, shall come and eat and be filled, that the LORD your God may bless you… Deuteronomy 14:29

When William Stacy responded to a shoplifting call at Dollar General in Tarrant, Alabama on Monday, he didn’t expect to find a grandmother. Like many on fixed incomes and large families, all she wanted to do was feed her children and grandchildren. But Officer Stacy didn’t arrest her; instead, he bought the dozen eggs she had attempted to steal and offered her a hug. The video made its way to viral status on Facebook – all because, as Officer Stacy says, children shouldn’t go hungry. It’s not their fault. Amen, this is love.
