It’s the classic story of high school sweethearts: Larry was the track and football star, and Kelcie was his biggest fan. Larry’s dedication didn’t end at sports, but extended to his community, as he spent summers as a smokejumper fighting forest fires in eastern Oregon. With a trip to DisneyLand planned for the whole family, Larry showed Kelcie’s sister McKenzie a ring meant for his best friend. And it all changed when Larry was hit by a drunk driver. A seemingly hopeless months-long coma was followed by yet more months of physical therapy. And Kelcie stuck by him the whole way, to the point of saying “I do” on the DisneyLand vacation they never took. See their story of hope in the video below.
