5 Worst Fast Food Meals to Get Your Child

Fast food companies spend billions of dollars on advertising for children each year. But did you know that fast food restaurants serve some of the least healthy food on the planet? Here are some of the worst meals you can get for your child at some of the most popular fast food restaurants.

2. KFC – Extra Crispy Chicken Breast, Potato Wedges, Miranda Strawberry Soda

Even with just one piece of chicken, this meal reaches a whopping 1,000 calories, and the chicken contains over half of the 2,050 mg of sodium. That’s nearly the entire maximum recommended daily limit of salt, and about half the recommended intake of calories. Meaning? You’re going to be hard-pressed to stay within the recommended daily calorie intake when you consider everything else you eat throughout the day. Plus, that fruit-flavored soda? It gets the record for most sugar with 58 grams.

Go with something else:

Kentucky Grilled Chicken Breast,Corn on the Cob,and Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters Tropical Fruit. Getting your child grilled chicken instead of fried cuts the calories (from chicken alone) in half — and although Capri Sun’s Raoarin’ Waters isn’t technically “juice,” it is slightly better for your child than soda.

1. Taco Bell – Chicken Quesadilla, Chips and Guacamole, Small Mountain Dew Baja Blast

With this apparently innocuous meal, you’re actually getting 1,050 calories, 1,710 mg of sodium, and a ridiculous 62 grams of sugar. The Chicken Quesadilla has the highest sodium count of any single item on this list at 1,200 mg, and the Baja Blast ties KFC’s strawberry soda for highest sugar content.

A less atrocious alternative:

Fresco Crunchy Taco,Black Beans and Rice, and SoBe Lifewater Yumberry Pomegranate (16 oz.). Although the 800 mg of sodium in this still gives your child more salt than a human should probably eat in one sitting, at least you aren’t feeding him or her a Smothered Beef Burrito, which has an insane 2,260 mg of sodium. Please, never eat that.
