When No One Is Looking

There are many things God asks of us. One of those is integrity. See how the times when no one is looking are the most revealing.

Our supervisor left early one day and several of my co-workers were overjoyed.  They thought that by his being gone, they could take it easier at work. And they did just that.

When the supervisor is at work, everyone stays busy and works hard, but the true test of character is what you do when no one is watching.  Integrity is so important to God.  It’s revealed when there are no eye witnesses.  If nobody is watching you, it is more tempting to get away with things like goof off at work or to leave early, however God sees no difference between stealing someone’s money and stealing time from your employer.  Human nature being what it is even Christians are not immune to this temptation.  Even if no one is watching, “the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him” (2 Chronicles 16:9).   Integrity is who you are when no one is watching.

I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things have I given willingly and with honest intent. – 1 Chronicles 29:17
