The Hard-Won Victory in the Fight Against Ebola – Thanks to God and Health Workers!

While the continuous newsfeed of the disease’s rapid spread is alarming, it is heartening to know that Develop Africa and GreaterGood’s efforts to combat Ebola are having meaningful results.

According to the Washington Post, nearly 5,000 west Africans have died of ebola, and roughly 13,000 are estimated infected by the current outbreak. Geraldine is one of those infected in Sierra Leone, but she didn’t die. Why? She thanks God and the work of Develop Africa, work made possible by by our friends at GreaterGood and The Hunger Site. This amazing story of survival and faith made me cry as Geraldine lost her mom, dad, uncle and sister. As the only survivor, she still thanks God – and we still need to fight this horrible disease.
