New Worship Song, “The God Who Fights For Me,” Brought Me To Tears!

We’re reminded throughout scripture of what it means to be children of God. Our sins are forgiven and our future is secure, but what about right here, right now? Where is God when we’re facing financial hardships, deaths in the family, a broken marriage, depression, anxiety, and any number of other struggles?

A verse often quoted while facing hardships is Matthew 28:20, “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Another is Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.” These verses are true and comforting, but they aren’t a complete picture of who God is during trials and tribulations.

Yes, God is always with us. Yes, He longs for us to rest in His presence. But that doesn’t mean God is passive. Quite the opposite, in fact. Deuteronomy 20:4 tells us, “For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” Again in Deuteronomy 3:22, scripture says, “Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you.”

Where is God in our times of trouble? He’s calling us to rest in Him as well as trust that He’s the one fighting our battles. All we have to do is lay our burdens at the cross and claim God’s promise to fight for us and for our good.
