Maybe instead of asking how Christmas can be different, we should ask ourselves, ‘how can I be different this Christmas season?’
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. -Colossians 3:17
Between all the decorations, cards, gifts, returns, new gifts, and the same old holiday shuffle – the true meaning of Christmas can get buried underneath a pile of presents and stress. This struggle is nothing new. Many people are fed up with the consumerism and gluttony associated with the holidays and want a different kind of celebration. Maybe instead of asking how Christmas can be different, we should ask ourselves, “how can I be different this Christmas season?”
This doesn’t necessarily mean changing everything about how we celebrate Christmas, but it does mean that we should be thoughtful and intentional in our celebration. Long after the batteries have worn out on the latest gadget you stood in line for hours to purchase, Jesus will still be at the center of everything. He will still be the reason for the season. So, why not start celebrating that now?
