He was never among the 1%. He isn’t in the highest tax bracket, doesn’t drive a fancy car, never won the lottery or inherited from a wealthy relative. But Marc Hardekopf is 37 and retired. How’d he do it? If you ask him, he just did it with self-discipline and understanding: get a good job, work hard at it, max out retirement contributions. That’s a lesson in properly stewarding money we can all get behind.
