Skye’s mom left her over 100 letters and notes of encouragement in her lunchbox throughout her 6th grade year. More than a decade later, Skye still has them all. In fact, she used them for her thesis in grad school.

Compliments never go out of style, unlike some of the hair cuts in this photo. Giving compliments is a win win. Not only are you making someone else’s day a little better, but it is such a joy to give people confidence. It gives you a little confidence as well. What a timely piece of advice for everyone, at any age: Give more compliments!

Smile, even when you don’t feel like it.

Everyone knows that pre-teens can be a bit moody. (And teens, and twenty somethings, and thirty somethings…) While hiding your feelings, or putting on a fake mood isn’t good, I think the point here is that sometimes, if you go through the motions, your mood will eventually follow. I can definitely use this wisdom today!
