Judas and Us

While his actions would lead us to draw him as clearly an evil guy, of whom evil is intended and expected, I think we are wrong in jumping to that conclusion.

Oh, that we would know this more.

He put us here for a time such as this.

I’ll let you get the context by finding this moment in a tiny book in your bible called Esther, but here is a moment where God is calling Esther to do a hard thing.

Then Esther spoke to Hathach and commanded him to go to Mordecai and say, “All the king’s servants and the people of the king’s provinces know that if any man or woman goes to the king inside the inner court without being called, there is but one law—to be put to death, except the one to whom the king holds out the golden scepter so that he may live. But as for me, I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days.”

And they told Mordecai what Esther had said. Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, “Do not think to yourself that in the king’s palace you will escape any more than all the other Jews. For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:10-14

And who knows, even if your faith is low, threadbare, losing strength, who knows- you may be called for such a time as this. Actually, I’ll cut out the maybe; You Are Called For Such A Time As This.

[content-ad]

To be a smile to a person who’s hurting.

To hug a friend.

To eat lunch at home because you put the ten-dollar bill you had planned for lunch in the offering plate for a well on a continent you’ve never seen.

For such a time as this.

Because we have the potential to be swayed by the safety of a sure bet. Or we can trust in the safety of waiting for the Lord. God is calling us to act, so please don’t think this is a free ride to wait for your ship to come in. Be active, be engaged, be serving and sharing, but when the time comes, stand.

For such a time as this.
