Homeless War Vet Transforms His Life So He Can Help Others In Need

After struggling for years, Curtis Butler turned his life around and began giving back to those in need.

This veteran was once homeless and he has been struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder for quite some time now. That has not stopped him from doing all that he can to turn his own life around.

According to ABC News, once he was given the chance to return home, he was diagnosed with PTSD. Unfortunately, he was denied any financial benefits. This sent him into a severe spiral. He was reduced to living out of his car and began to struggle with pills and alcohol. In fact, he nearly ended his own life twice.

During this time, he fell out of touch with his children and lost his will to carry on. All he could do was worry about surviving and paying his bills.

Eventually, Butler was finally able to get his life back in order but he is not forgetting all those who are still suffering. He is now looking for ways to assist others who have found themselves falling behind.

Butler happened to be in a Georgia Power office one day, as he was in line waiting to pay one of his utility bills. During his wait, he heard another customer venting about the difficulties that they had been having making their payments. From there, he paid off their $230 bill but that was not all that he did that day. By the time he left the office that day, Butler had dished out $2,000 to pay off the power bills for at least 20 people.

“I have been there and done it, been close to eating out of trash cans….I was the one on the street with my hand out asking for some change,” Butler says. “God put me in that predicament, so that one day I could help others.” He has even found the woman that he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

“One night I prayed and I asked God, ‘can you reveal to me my wife?’ And he said, ‘Yeah stupid, you sit next to her in church every Sunday’…God works miracles and wonders every day,” he shared. He serves as living proof that we can always turn our lives around.
