Let This Haunting Music Guide You In Prayer Today!

This is a perfect piece of music for reflection and prayer during the Lenten season.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you… – 1 Peter 5:6

This is a perfect piece of music for reflection and prayer during the Lenten season. This music is by the American composer, Samuel Barber. It was written for an orchestra solely made up of violins, violas, chellos and bass, all stringed instruments, hence the title, “Adagio for Strings.” It is a haunting, prayerful musical meditation.

This piece was recorded by the Trinity College choir of Cambridge University in England, translating the musical notations for the string instruments into choral music, and using the Latin “Agnus Dei”, or “Lamb of God,” prayer. The English translation is “Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.”

As we prepare to celebrate the holiest days of the Christian calendar, remembering the Death and Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, the Christ, let this sacred piece of music help you prepare your mind, heart and soul to truly understand the meaning of the Easter events.

God is good. Thanks be to God.
