Wynne and Stephen’s Glorious Ruin, an Adoption Story

Wynne and Stephen Elder write that the life-changing adoption was “all because we committed to pray about growing our family through adoption. I can’t imagine where we’d be if God would have said YES to my prayer before I could say YES to His much greater plan.”

Wynne Elder never saw adoption on her radar. Adoption was a thing, along with missions, meant for “those people,” Christian radicals with hearts “for the nations,” not her. Or so she thought. After over a year of trying to get pregnant with their “own” baby, Stephen and Wynne were confronted with a challenge, a friend asking if they had ever considered adoption. After painstaking research, the Texas couple was committed to adopt children from Ethiopia – and upon meeting their daughter and son, they knew their lives were changed. From Wynne’s blog: “Our lives look totally different. We are changed. And it’s all because we committed to pray about growing our family through adoption. I can’t imagine where we’d be if God would have said YES to my prayer before I could say YES to His much greater plan.”
