Nature has a strange and beautiful way of hiding true art in the unlikeliest of places, and even the smallest creepy crawlies can be magnificent. This photographer has captured the bright trails of light left by fireflies as they dance in twilight hours of the American midwest.

As a fun fact, firefly light is considered “cold”; the bioluminescent display generates neither infrared nor ultraviolet light, and gives off zero heat.
