For thirty years, border residents in Mexico and the southern United States knew him as “El Diablo” – the Devil. A drug smuggler and heroin addict himself, this 68-year-old left his family for drugs and violence in the early 1980s. As the drugs consumed him, Pops (as he is now known) felt body growing weaker.
