There’s Only One Rock That Pays the Price and Covers Us – And It’s the Rock of Ages!

Dustin Kensrue’s “Rock of Ages” is my current repeated song of choice – it’s a classic hymn, with all the amazing depth of old lyrics, but it’s a modern twist with a new chorus and bridge that are just as beautiful and comforting.

I love hymns – whether soaring, triumphant proclamations or plaintive, beautiful a capella 800 years in the making, there’s something about old lyrics that strike me as more beautiful and theological than most modern offerings. Which isn’t to speak ill of contemporary confessions when they’re awesome; I actually love modern pop-rock especially as an arrangement of an old hymn. Which is probably why Dustin Kensrue’s “Rock of Ages” is my current repeated song of choice – it’s a classic hymn, with all the amazing depth of old lyrics, but it’s a modern twist with a new chorus and bridge that are just as beautiful and comforting. Whether a modern rocker grabbing your guitar or a classically trained organist in need of a hymnal, listen and sing along to this!
