American radio and television icon, Dick Clark, passed away today at the age of 82. Clark spent decades as a youthful figure in the center of the music industry. His television show American Bandstand ran for 32 years, launching the careers of countless artists. Clark also started a New Year’s classic 40 years ago, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, the televised countdown from Times Square in New York City.

Dick Clark spent his entire life entertaining us with wholesome, family-friendly programming. Whether on television or radio, this legend brought happiness and great music into millions of homes around the world. He was a true gentleman in an industry that is so often craven.

Dick Clark was known for his famous sign off, “For now, Dick Clark…so long.” So long Dick. We’ll miss you.
