Usually when I think of service projects around the holidays, I get the picture of serving up soup to homeless people. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but there are a ton of other awesome ideas out there, and what a great hands on way to show your family what it means to serve and give during this time of year! Here are just a few fun ideas: Make cards for people in nursing homes, take dogs at a shelter for walks, make cookies for your neighbors, put together craft kits for a local children’s hospital, the list goes on and on. Have A Journey To Bethlehem Dinner

One night leading up to Christmas, have your family try to imagine what it would be like to be in the stables, and eating food the way Joseph and Mary did. For dinner you can have fruits and veggies, crackers, figs, dried meat, cheese, etc. Sit on the floor and eat by candle light. This is such a great way to get into the mindset of those days leading up to the birth of Christ. It would be a great time to read aloud the Christmas story!
