Yorkshire Teen Delivers His Own King’s Speech

Musharaf Asghar was ready to give up on his education. This British teen overcame bullying and his own speech impediment to bring a classroom of teachers and fellow students to tears!

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace. – 1 Peter 4:10

Musharaf Asghar was ready to give up on his education. At 14 years old, a lifelong speech impediment made it almost impossible for him to communicate with classmates and with teachers. When teachers understood the severity of bullying that “Mushy” suffered for his stammer, they enforced much stricter protections for the teen, and English teacher Mr. Burton took the boy under his wing to help pass the British standards test. With a cue from the George VI biopic The King’s Speech (starring Colin Firth), Mr. Burton let Musharaf listen to music as he practiced his speech – and his stammer went away!
