This Glass Slipper Is 55 Feet Tall – And It’s Also A Church!

This is easily one of the most unique church buildings in the world – and it’s inspired by a local legend!

And in this place I will give peace, declares the LORD of hosts. – Haggai 2:9

This is easily one of the most unique church buildings in the world. This month, Taiwan opened a 55-foot glass church shaped like a high-heeled shoe, which is meant to attract more women to attend.

The shiny blue shoe is made of over 320 tinted glass panels, is 36 feet wide, and cost almost $700,000 to build.

While the church will not be used for regular worship services, it will be open for meditation, wedding ceremonies, and romantic photo shoots. A regional administrator told BBC, “in our planning, we wanted to make it a blissful, romantic avenue…”

The shoe design was inspired by a local legend and meant to honor her memory – in the 1960s, a young woman from the region suffered from Blackfoot disease and had both of her legs amputated, which led to the cancellation of her wedding. She remained unmarried and spent the remainder of her life in the church.
