The World Welcomes The New Pope

On Wednesday March 13, 2012 The world welcomed Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio as Pope Francis I.

Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety. – Proverbs 11:14

On Wednesday March 13, 2012 The world watched as white smoke poured from Vatican’s Conclave signaling the selection of the new pope, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, as Pope Francis I. He is the 266th pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, and the only one in the last thousand years not originally from Europe.

Pope Francis was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, studied theology in Germany, and is a much loved figure who’s best known as a champion for the poor. In spite of his position he insisted on living a very humbled lifestyle. Instead of living in the archbishop’s palace he chose a simple apartment and even preferred riding the bus to taking a limo.

We congratulate the Catholic Church on the selection of a new pope and pray that God blesses his papacy!
