Skydiving Grandmother Saved By Heroic Instructor

For Shirley Dygert, a plan to shake things up a bit took a serious turn that ended in an act of heroism and faith.

Whoever has earthly possessions and notices a brother in need and yet withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God be present in him? – 1 John 3:17

Sometimes the unthinkable can happen, as grandmother-of-three Shirley Dygert discovered on her 54th birthday. Thinking she wanted to try something a little different and outrageous, she bravely decided to try a parachute jump for the first time in her life. After the usual routine instruction and preparation, it was time to take that leap of faith–with her skilled instructor Dave Hartsock riding in tandem and manning the controls.

It was only moments later that things took a frightening turn for the worst, and the parachute didn’t open. But that is not the end of the story, rather only the beginning. The beginning of a new life for both Shirley and Dave. See Dave’s heroic act and be amazed at his remarkable spirit.
