Living abroad can be tough. It’s also terribly exciting, and opportunities to see the world are understandably moments that many students jump at in college. For one young man living in Japan, he knew his parents in Florida weren’t on the same time zone as him, so talking to them was difficult. Solution? Connect with photographs: specifically, a sunset to say goodnight:

But on the other side of the world, his parents were just waking up. And 20 minutes later, were ready to say good morning with sunrise:

As that song from An American Tale goes, “it helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star / And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby / It helps to think we’re sleeping underneath the same big sky.” Technology can make this so real, so true.
