Don’t Worry – You Won’t Get In Trouble for Taking from the Offering at This Church. But You Better…

But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind… Luke 14:13

In Monticello, Minnesota, something different is going on. On most Sundays, churches everywhere pass a plate or a bucket or bag or something. You know what it’s for – give a bit of money, support the church and its ministry.

But at Quarry Community Church, the offering plate went around not to be filled, but to be emptied. Every member was offered $100. With a catch: if you took the money, you had to love your neighbor with it, to pay it forward. Maybe they all bought Olive Garden pasta cards?
