Every adaptation and production of J.M. Barrie’s beloved children’s tale ultimately ends in the bittersweet: Peter returns to Neverland, the boy who never grows up, as Wendy stays in London, both having started to grow up by falling in love, but unable to stay together. At the Hydro Theater in Glasgow, Scotland, one production of Peter Pan had a more traditional fairy tale ending. Sandor Sturbl, a Dutch actor playing Peter for the production, had to stop the curtain call, for one special moment: would Wendy, Scottish actress Jane Mary Sullivan, marry him?
