What This Homeless Man Wants for Thanksgiving Will Break Your Heart.

When you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. Luke 14:13-14

At the Union Mission shelter in Norfolk, Virginia, Neal Shytles points to an uncomfortable lower bunk. “This is bed 13,” he says. “This is where I lived for a year.” Everyday, he says, he feels lonely; despite being surrounded both on the street and in the shelter, he doesn’t have a family locally to take him in. All he wants for Thanksgiving is a family.
