I Loved Free Reading Time in Class – But a Teacher Never Tried to Take My Book…Even a Bible!

In Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, the Bible is not welcome. At least that’s what fifth grade teacher Swornia Thomas would have you believe. When she gave her class “free reading time”, young Giovanni Rubeo’s choice of material wasn’t encouraged. She asked the boy to turn in the Bible on her desk. He refused.
