Egyptian Muslims Stand as Human Shields to Protect Christians!

“We either live together, or we die together.” See how God is working in the hearts of these brave Muslims!

So much of the news coming from the Middle East is of war, division, and hatred. That’s why this story of unity and brotherhood between religious groups really caught our attention. In Egypt, Muslims banded together to protect worshiping Coptic Christians during the Coptic Christmas mass services all over the country.

Following a devastating attack on a Coptic church in Alexandria, outraged Muslims turned out to offer themselves up as human shields to protect their Christian brothers and sisters from Islamic extremists.

According to Mohamed El-Sawy who helped to organize the Muslim turnout, “We either live together, or we die together.” This event happened about one year ago but, unfortunately, got very little mainstream media attention. Sadly, more recent reports have shown that much of this interfaith goodwill has evaporated, as attacks on Copts have become more frequent. Despite that turn for the worst, this story leaves us hopeful that God will continue to work in the hearts of everyone in that region, guiding them towards peace, reconciliation, and justice rather than the violence we so often see.
