At the age of 2, Zion Harvey suffered a deadly infection that resulted in his hands and feet being amputated. But Harvey’s dreams of a fuller life is being realized after the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia carried out a successful hand transplant.

The operation took almost 11 hours with a team 40 medical personnel. According to Dr. L. Scott, who heads the hand transplant programs, the boy woke smiling, touching everyone in the room.
