Peace Officer Saves Homeless Man: But It’s Not What You Think

Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers all wrongs. – Proverbs 10:12

Deputy Matt Holman was on a rainy night patrol in Greenville, South Carolina when he came across a homeless man named Robert Morris. Morris was addicted to alcohol and drugs and had been estranged from his family. Deputy Holman took the wet, hungry man to a nearby church and gave him his personal copy of the Bible. Unable to find Morris a place at any shelter, Holman left him with a much-needed meal and a message to change his life.

A few months later the sheriff’s office got a call from Morris saying that he’d turned his life around because of Holman’s kindness. The chance meeting illustrates a phrase from the Bible’s Proverbs 10:12: “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers all wrongs.”
