She Plastered Her School With Post-It Notes, And We Hope Her Positive Message Sticks.

She plastered lockers with post-it notes with encouraging reminders. Her teachers and principals weren’t big fans (they viewed the sticky notes as litter), but her classmates were – and so are we!

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7

Bullies are everywhere – and it’s hard to speak up, which leaves so many unable to stand up. Of course, there are the good stories: words of encouragement and campaigns to change schoools. This is, beautifully, one of the latter stories:

Caitlin Prater-Haacke got a message on her Facebook wall one day, “encouraging” her to commit suicide. It was mean, hurtful, devastating – but Caitlin didn’t get even, she got positive. Not just with herself or her bully, but everyone in her high school. She plastered lockers with post-it notes with encouraging reminders. Her teachers and principals weren’t big fans (they viewed the sticky notes as “litter”), but her classmates were – and so are we!
