It’s a warm November day in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and 90-year-old Arnold Abbott is doing what he’s done for his entire adult life: loving other people by feeding the homeless. Except this time, he’s not getting thanks and “God bless you”s, he’s getting read his Miranda rights. Under a new city ordinance, it is illegal to publicly assist Fort Lauderdale’s homeless population. So the 90-year-old Abbott and two local pastors (Dwayne Black of The Sanctuary Church and Mark Sims of St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church) face up to 2 months in jail plus $500 fines. All men profess to be answering Jesus’ call to love His sheep. God bless these men.

Update: On November 5th, Arnold Abbott was arrested a second time for continuing to feed the homeless. This man just can’t stop loving!
